Academy Members

1- Any chef, kitchen master or other professional in the culinary area can be an Academy member.
Candidates must be sponsored by the applicable Area Directorate in each country. Sponsorhips shall take into account a candidate’s professional experience, studies, priezes, activity and research in his country’s cuisine, participation in international events, educational activity giving classes and lectures, and any other applicable gastronomical and professional activities.

2- Candidates must:

A: Have more than 20 years of experience in culinary activities.
B: Have excellent command of at least 2 languages, and a good command of a 3rd language, in addition to a broad general culture.

3- When sponsoring a candidate, Area Directors shall do so through a file setting forth the candidate’s professional experience and other requirements indicated in subparagraph (1) above. The file shall also contain the Area Director’s comments on the individual, and the reasons that underlie his/her nomination.

4- Any résumés submitted to AREGALA shall be evaluated by AREGALA’s Council in accordance with a rating system. Once a candidate receives the necessary points, his/her admission shall be determined by a majority of votes.

 

5- Candidates deemed pioneers, having made significant contributions to the dissemination of culinary art in their respective countries, who are considered outstanding examples of professional standards, and who otherwise meet the requirements set forth in subparagraph (1) above, shall be exempted from fulfilling the requirements in subparagraph (2) (B).

6- Candidates must be born in the country they represent. Alternatively, thy may have become citizens of said country, or have lived there at least for 20 years. In addition, they must have made significant contributions to the gastronomy of their country of residence.

7- The Great Culinary Academy of the Americas shall be governed by AREGALA?s By-Laus and Code of Ethics.

8- ACLA will receive technical and strategic support from 5 professional members of AREGALA. These individuals shall have different specialities, and shall constitute the ACLA Council. Said Council will be in gharge of ACLA’s external relations, with cooking academies and schools, as well as with other schools, universities and institutes, wich organize courses by leading specialists, as well as graduate courses and exams. Accordingly, said entities will thus be able to grant diplomas or certificates endorsed by ACLA.
