Achievements of the association

1. Aregala was the first gastronomic – cultural association based in America.

It is founded in 1983 by the chefs Diego Silva Lehmann, Carlos Alberto Dumas and Ramiro
Rodríguez Pardo.

2. Aregala was the first gastronomic association that decrees an

international day for chefs, decreeing  the Chef World Day on 16th October,
in concordance with the World Day of the Right to Feeding decreed by the
FAO.

3. Aregala was the first association of the world that organizes a Latin American gastronomic congress.  The appointment was at Lima and Machu Picchu in April, 1992.

4. Aregala designates Lima, Latin American Gastronomic Capital in 1992.

5. Aregala was the unique and first Latin American association ( at that time only was Latin American ) invited to the worldwide exposition Expo –Sevilla 92 in that year in Spain, taking on responsibility of qualifying the restaurants of the world that were participating in that famous exposition.

6. Aregala is the first association that organizes successful international festivals in Spain: 1992- Expo Sevilla 92 Argentina (year 2000), 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008  Peru ( since 1996 to 2000 and later in 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2010, Costa Rica in the year 1995, 2010 Ecuador in the years 2003, 2005, 2009, Bolivia, 1990, 1999, 2000, 2004, in Chile in the year 1990, Mexico: 2003, 2005, 2009 Cuba, organizing along with the Federation of Culinary Associations of Cuba in the year 1996.

7. Aregala is the first Latin American association ( when it was Latin American association ) that promotes gastronomic education in the presence of ministries, universities and other authorities founding the AREGUI in Costa Rica in the year 1995 with official reconnaissance by the Secretariat of Tourism and several universities and gastronomic and hotel associations, obtaining an official reconnaissance.

8. Aregala is the association of the world that in the last 25 years has organized the most festivals and culinary participations in different countries, organizing more than seventy exhibitions.

9. Aregala is the first gastronomic association of the world that has obtained that its partners were recognized as illustrious guests, distinguished visitors, etc. Obtaining this important official qualification in cities as Buenos Aires, Salta, Mendoza, Cordoba (Argentina), Veracruz, Papantla (Mexico), Costa Rica, Lima (Peru) in the years 2003 and 2008 and Ecuador by the Ministry of Tourism of that country.

10. Aregala achieves that its exhibitions get acknowledgement as of tourist interest by the Ministries of Tourism of Argentina in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Salta, Mendoza, of Lima (Peru), of Ecuador, of Bolivia, of Chile.

11. Aregala is the first Latin American gastronomic association that was
conquering the world to become, at first into ASSOCIATION of Gastronomic Restaurateurs of THE AMERICAS by establishing itself in the majority of countries of Latin America and later it has established contacts with USA and Canada and recently by becoming into Association of Gastronomic Restaurateurs of The Americas and the World (in process) or Association of Western Hemisphere and World Gastronomic Restaurateurs by establishing representations and offices in Europe, Canada and Asia keeping its continuous expansion through the countries of the world.

12. AREGALA establishes the Day of the American Gastronomic Confraternity
instituting as symbol the tamale on March 3rd, this is why it´s also the American Day of the Tamale. This ceremony is organized in an ancient large house of several centuries in front of the Mexico Cathedral.

13. Aregala is the first gastronomic association of the World that founds a culinary organization with humanitarian aims COOKS WITHOUT Borders, which currently is formally registered in Peru and Mexico and in process in Argentina and other Spanish-speaking countries. Also, it was registered in USA as COOKS WITHOUT BORDERS and in France as CUISINIERS SANS FRONTIÈRES. In Brazil and Portugal as COZINHEIROS SEM FRONTEIRAS.

14. Through AREGUI it creates a network that groups more than 30 schools and faculties through the world, creating a unique program in its type and developing the level of excellence in the culinary education of the associated entities.

15. Aregala creates the first international culinary contests in Latin America, sponsored by the most important schools and institutes of the world and associations. Currently, it has created the INTERNATIONAL GASTRONOMIC MARATHON duly registered with copyrights in France, USA, Peru and Mexico.

16. Aregala is the first association of the World of Culinary Journalists and Writers. 1992. Recently it created the WORLD ORGANIZATION OF PRESS AND CULINARY DIFFUSION. OMPG.PRESS or WOC.PRESS World Association of Culinary Press.

17. Aregala founds the Chefs Association of Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Argentina but due to its growth and its own characteristics, AREGALA establishes itself in all countries with the name of AREGALA followed by the name of the country.

AREGALA has revolutionaized the gastronomy in the world with the contribution of new cultural, technological, philanthropic and scientific concepts that have transformed the cook office into a great profession of superior level.
AREGALA is much more that an association of chefs. AREGALA is a family whom it has looked for to fraternise the nations of the world through the arts and culinary sciences.
AREGALA was founded in 1987 as a Latin American Culinary Association. It was formally enrolled in Perú (Machu Pichu) in 1992 like a gastronomical cultural association.
With the inclusion of Canada, USA, Europe and Asia AREGALA has become ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN HEMISPHERE AND WORLD GASTRONOMIC RESTAURATEURS.  We host numerous cooking competitions and festivals around the globe, operate a virtual and actual culinary program sponsor innumerable humanitarian food drives.
A certification from AREGALA is considered to be the mark of an extraordinary Chef in this specialty area and is not given without well-recognized expertise and achievement. TO CARRY OUT ITS OBJECTIVES IT ORGANIZES CULINARY FESTIVALS WITH  demonstrative buffets, congresses, gastronomic panels and conventions, master classes and the presentation of books, magazines and specialized works.
